From Safari
A Safari extension puts Omi Reader in the address bar. Tap it, choose “Read in the app”, and the article is already loaded when the app opens.
The built-in browser
Open a page inside the app and read it there — including the ones behind a login, where a share sheet only ever gets you the paywall.
PDFs and anything shared
Pick a PDF from Files, or share text from any app. Running heads, page numbers and hyphenated line breaks are cleaned up first.
What it's like
Built to be listened to, not demonstrated
A shelf, not an archive
What you were in the middle of sits at the top, with the sentence you stopped on quoted underneath. Everything else is one tap away rather than five rows down.
You can see where it is
The sentence being spoken is the one lit up, so glancing at the screen tells you where you are. Drag the rail to move a sentence at a time — not fifteen seconds, which is never a sentence.
Three looks, and one of them is for the dark
Room is warm paper and a reading serif. Loud is hard borders and orange. Night is near-black with a lime accent, for reading after the lights go off. The switch at the top of this page is the same one.
Every voice already on your phone
Including Personal Voice, if you've recorded one — your own voice, cloned on the device by iOS itself. Omi Reader puts it at the top of the list rather than buried under forty others.

- This release is free to download and use.
- Account
- None. There's nothing to sign into.
- Voices
- Every voice installed on your device, including Personal Voice. Reading is done by iOS on the phone itself.
- Works offline
- Yes. Capturing a page needs a connection, as pages generally do, but reading one back doesn't.
- Voice cloning
- Apple's Personal Voice, recorded and stored on your device by iOS. Omi Reader doesn't record or upload your voice.
- Requires
- iOS 16 or later. Personal Voice needs iOS 17.
Omi Reader isn't on the App Store yet. This page describes the first release; more is on the way, including natural cloud voices.
